Have you changed the capacity at all? My first thought is a problem with the spring. If it's not strong or long enough it wouldn't feed that last round properly and it wouldn't hold adequate feed pressure on the follower. Not enough spring pressure could cause your problems.

Something is out of whack, as you're aware! Since it's new, take it back to the dealer while it's under warranty. Mossberg is very helpful. One other thing, what type of ammunition are you using?

Nothing wrong with those choices. Have you tried anything else? Mine doesn't like the Sellior & Belloit stuff. I had trouble getting it to eject but no problems with anything else. I'm going to have to get out with it and will pay more attention to the areas you're having trouble with. I would still recommend you getting it back to your dealer for a warranty inspection!

Warranty is best choice before it is "altered", but mossbergs are often easily fixed by putting in a new follower in the mag tube.
Easy fix, a few $ from brownells.com
