Value of Collection??

Postby ErnieG » Thu Mar 22, 2007 11:46 pm

My father-in-law passed away last weekend and has quite a gun collection that my mother-in-law would like to get rid of. We had relatives that catalogued them according to "blue" book value. There are all kinds, army pistols from the 1940's, trap shotguns, Remington Model 30S(special grade) with scope, 1903 CAL. 30-06 w/scope, Winchester Model 52 Custom Sporter Rifle .22 long rifle w/scope, Smith & Wesson CAL. .38 special CTO and others.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GET RID OF THIS COLLECTION AND STILL GET A FAIR PRICE? Any help is appreciated.

You can order one online, major bookstores like booksamillion. I've seen them at gun shops as well...

ErnieG, if you've done your research with a Blue Book Of Gun Values, that's the best way to get the going value of each gun. Depending on the condition. The book even has a guide that helps you figure the percentage, condition wise.

Advertise and appeal to ' serious gun collectors only'. You could find out when and where the next gun show is coming to your town and set up a booth. Inquire at the local gun shop and see what their consignment %'s are, and let them sell the collection for you...I don't know what your interests are in guns, if at all. If it were my relative, I'd want to keep one for myself...

You can also go to www.bluebookinc.com. You might save yourself a few bucks. The new 28th edition comes out in April. Later, Nohub
