I've never bought a new firearm from a gun show, I like to buy used ones. I just get better deals that way. sometimes I'll even buy from someone trying to sell a firearm to a dealer there. Just whatever I find and like I buy.

The only possible way that you could sell a new firearm without the paperwork is to still have the gun under the dealers name. I'm going to ask my friend what he did to buy his pistol brand new at the gun show I usually go to annually. He said they just looked at his ID to make sure he was 21. I'll get back with ya when I talk to him.

Just a sidenote also, you can buy used guns from anyone in Indiana if you are 18 through a private transaction. and you can acquire them if you are under 18 if they are given or sold to you by your parents/guardians.
